German Shepherd Dogs
The German Shepherd Dog has roots in Germany as the name implies. It is directly translated from the German Deutscher Schaferhund, which is why the word Dog is specified. But the German Shepherd is also called an Alsatian Shepherd, especially in Great Britain. This Alsatian name was introduced during World War I as the dog was known to be aiding the German war effort. It is widely accepted that the German Shepherd was perfected by the German enthusiast von Stephanitz. It is a dog in the herding group.
Nature: The perfect German Shepherd is well trainable and intelligent which is why they make great police dogs and extraordinary guide dogs. Grooming and exercise are key to raising a healthy German shepherd dog.
