Miniature Schnauzer
The miniature schnauzer is one of a family of three schnauzers that includes standard schnauzers and giant schnauzers. The miniature schnauzer was actually a cross between the original standard schnauzer and a smaller dog, widely accepted to be the Affenpinschers breed. The miniature schnauzer was first displayed in Germany in the early 1900s and slightly earlier. It is classified as a terrier in Canada and United-States, but Miniature Schnauzers are sometimes placed in the utility breed in other countries.
Nature: A tough and energetic little dog, the miniature schnauzer makes a great companion. Like most dogs, the miniature schnauzer requires regular exercise and grooming. The standard cut for the miniature schnauzer is somewhat difficulty to maintain, but most miniature schnauzer owners do not use them for show so this is not an issue.
Misinformation: A white miniature schnauzer is not a rare but acceptable color for the breed. If a breeder tries to sell you a certified white miniature schnauzer beware as it may be crossed with a Westie or possibly even albino. Don't take offense to this statement, we love the white miniature schnauzer. It looks adorable, and you shouldn't hesitate to get a white miniature schnauzer if you enjoy them as we do. Just be aware that it just is not a recognized Schnauzer breed.
